Library Mission Statement The basis of PEER Groups mission is to be an educational group. Probably nothing we do as a group, other than providing individual member support, more embodies the core educational mission of the group than the PEER library. The library was one of the first thing the group undertook many years ago to meet the educational mission of the group. This library allows those who are just entering the lifestyle to review what others have written and learned, in an environment where they can self pace their journey. In many cases these books may in fact help one who is just getting started to find answers to questions they are to afraid to ask directly, or to understand that there are others who have gone before, and it is OK to ask. It also allows newcomers to consider the content of a particular author’s book before making the commitment to purchase the book for their own personal library. The library is not limited to just the newcomer. We have many titles that would be considered intermediate or advance level books that either help to define, or refine a particular technique or process of lifestyle life.
ScopePEER’ Library has a cross section of books and an ever expanding visual media component which covers, relationships, techniques, fetish, leadership, counseling, as well as the very core basics of the lifestyle. Several books in the library are author-autographed copies, which were presented to the group during in person presentations to further the group’s mission. In addition to the current catalogue of titles we have started to, in both books as well as visual media titles obtain more in the nature of erotica. Many have questioned this decision as being beneath an educational group, but the practical side of this decision is that we all play and we all fantasies about various interactions. It was our feeling that these items have a real place in a well-rounded exposure to real part of lifestyle life.
Operating Procedures for using the Library ( How To Access the Library ) The PEER Library is a member benefit and is available to all PEER Members regardless of level of membership. Members are allowed to take out up to 3 books at a time for up to a month at a time. If you have not had a chance to read the book during that time you are welcome to renew the checkout for another month. We would ask that you respect retuning the books when you are done so that others may have an opportunity to have access to them. Newcomers are strongly encouraged to check out books as they journey though our newcomers program as a resource for enhanced understanding, and while specific suggestions may be made by a group mentor in this process, do not be embarrassed or hesitate to ask anyone about an issues that may concern you, for we were all new at one time. The Library itself is made available at all meetings, presentations, newcomers, and parties, and requested books can be brought to the munches by using our Reserve A Book service by contacting us at ReserveABook@BDSM-PEERGroup.com
New books and media Our group allocates in it’s annual budget, a certain amount of new funds to continue to procure new titles to expand the library’s content. In the past few years this amount has allowed us to expand the library by between 15 to 20 titles per year. If you have an idea for a title that you would think would make a good addition to our library please contact us with the information so we can consider your request. Most of our current library purchases come from the suggestions of our members themselves.
Donations In addition we gladly accept donations to the library from those individuals who have for whatever reason decided to dispose of related lifestyle material. If you are interested in donating your media to the library please feel free to contact us at library@BDSM-PEERGroup.com to make arrangements to do so. In addition several people have seen fit in the past few years to either buy for the benefit of the library, or donate cash to the library directly. All you need to do is contact us, and our library committee will be more than willing to help you in the process.
New Projects for 2008 Within the next few months you will find direct links embedded within the library part of our site to allow you to purchase directly from our media vendors. These links will in some cases offer discounts to our members while providing the library committee with credit by some manufactures toward the purchase of additional titles to keep the library expanding. The new music download section of the site will include access to the scene music we have archived for the parties and will allow you to sample the songs before purchasing them. In many cases the individual songs will be made available for download or purchase rather than having to have to buy the entire album. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the library committee at Library@BDSM-PEERGroup.com for their help. Or if you would like to reserve a book or other media please send an email to ReserveABook@BDSM-PEERGroup.com You book can be brought to the next meeting, party, or munch.
